Location of Sections
The Library has been divided into different sections for its smooth functioning:
Circulation Section
Issue and return of books are handled with the help of computers. Located on the First Floor, readers can enroll as Library members here.
Timings: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Weekdays)
Reference & Readers’ Advisory Service
Available at the Reference Desk in the First Floor Reading Hall. This service operates during all 12 hours the Library remains open.
Orientation sessions for new students are conducted at the beginning of each academic session.
Books can also be arranged through Inter-Library Loan on request.
Display of Books / Exhibitions
Every Monday, newly acquired books are displayed near the Library entrance.
Exhibitions on topical or subject themes are organized periodically on the First Floor.
Theses & Text Books Section
Located on the Ground Floor, this section provides access to:

Rare books
Newspaper backfiles
Manuscripts
These materials are not issued for lending.
Reading Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (All days)
Acquisition Section
Situated on the Third Floor, this section procures books and reading material selected by Library staff and recommended by departmental Chairpersons.
Periodicals Section
Located on the Third Floor, this section provides access to approximately 600 journals, magazines, and newspapers.
Timings: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Technical Section
Before being placed on shelves, all reading materials are technically processed in this section located on the First Floor.
Computer Section
Situated on the Second Floor, it houses:

CD server
Multimedia systems
Scanners and printers
This section manages the entire Library Computer System.
Binding Section
Located on the Ground Floor behind the Special Collection Section, the Library Bindery includes modern binding machines.
Services include:
Routine binding of library materials
Minor repair work for students
Comb binding
Spiral binding
Lamination
Manuscripts & Rare Books Section
Located on the Ground Floor, this section contains two major collections:
Manuscripts
Total: 1492 manuscripts
Languages: Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Sanskrit, Punjabi, and Sharda script

Writings of Sikh Gurus

Approximately 20,000 rare books dating from 1634 A.D. to present, covering diverse disciplines and themes such as:
